THE HOTEL: QUIRK HOTEL / RICHMOND, VA

In an effort to explore new places, we've been booking weekend trips in various surrounding towns. Richmond, being only a little over an hour away from the D.C. area, has been on my wishlist and mainly because of the infamous pink hotel - Quirk Hotel! When you pull up to this boutique hotel on Broad Street, you're immediately greeted by a friendly staff and endless photo ops. Not to mention, Quirk Hotel was named one of the Best Places to Travel in 2016 by Travel + Leisure, as well as one of the 60 Best New Hotels & Resorts in the world by Condé Nast.

What's not to love about, Quirk Hotel? Darling decor, a chic coffee bar, upscale dining, spacious rooms, stunning rooftop views & a stylish gallery store all make for nothing short of a luxurious and exciting stay.

SHOP: QUIRK HOTEL GALLERY STORE

On the bottom floor of Quirk Hotel is Quick Gallery. Featuring both acclaimed and emerging artists, Quirk Gallery has come to be one of the best art galleries in downtown Richmond. Above it sits the Gallery Store with a curated selection of jewelry, prints, candles, and other quirky gifts.

Take a walk down W Broad Street, the same street Quirk Hotel is located on, for amazing vintage & thrift shopping. Two of my favorite stores are Rosewood Clothing & 68 Home, where we brought home a cute, woven peacock chair from. And one of my favorite jewelry brands is headquartered in Richmond, Drift Riot.

EXPLORING: THE ROBERT E. LEE MEMORIAL BRIDGE & BELLE ISLE

A friend recommended that we walk the suspension bridge under the Robert E. Lee memorial bridge. Here you will find more great views of Richmond as the bridge leads you across the James River to Belle Ilse.

GOOD EATS: MAPLE & PINE / SECRET SANDWICH SOCIETY / CASA DEL BARCO

Brunch at Maple & Pine is a must if you're in Richmond, VA! It was one of the best brunches I think I've ever had featuring the most flavorful, elevated brunch dishes. I still dream about that breakfast hash - The flavors were amazing!

There is really no shortage of good food in Richmond, Virginia. Secret Sandwich Society is great for lunch with a side of craft beer and Casa Del Barco for upscale Mexican food. Another main attraction in Richmond are the local breweries, so we stopped at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery.
