Clean Beauty & goop

goop is one of my favorite brands because of their overall attention to general wellness, which is something that I become more conscious of. It seems like every day I'm learning that something I eat or do is harmful for my body in some way, so I try to do what I can to balance out the level of good vs. bad. After my run in with Melanoma last year, I'm much more conscious about what I put in and on my body.

"If you can't live in your body, where will you live?"
Marilu Henner - Changing Normal

What better reason than the new year to hit the reset button and try something newer and better for your body? So, in celebration of goop's newest book, Clean Beauty, they sent me their #goodcleangoop Detox Kit. The package was made up of not only the book filled with so many tips for living a cleaner life, but also some of founder, Gwyneth Paltrow's, favorite health-and-beauty boosting products.

I just started the book, and I've been using the products for a few weeks, so I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you from the kit, along with some of her best tips for detoxing, and a couple of other products that I've been using lately that I love.

goop by Juice Beauty Exfoliating Instant Facial

Gwyneth Paltrow talks a lot about the glow that you get from going clean. The easiest way to enhance that beautiful glow you will begin to see in your skin is by exfoliating. goop's Instant Facial is made using all five alpha-hydroxy acids, commonly used for skin rejuvenation, plus salicylic acid. She proclaims, "There is no more efficient skin-smoother and glowifier on this earth!" I've been loving everything about it, from how it feels to how my skin looks after using it. Plus, it's as quick and easy as a mask gets. You only need to leave it on for 3 minutes.

Also included in the Detox Kit was the goop by Juice Beauty Luminous Melting Cleanser. It gently removes your make-up, plus pollutants and toxins from the day as well.

Jane Inc. Effervescent Cube Detox Bath

Now, I'll admit I've only used this once, but I loved it. I, personally, love any excuse to take a bath. Taking baths are detoxifying by themselves and GP recommends taking a nice hot one every night while you are detoxing. Handmade with mandarin orange, thyme, and ginger gives this bathtime accoutrement its essential oil detoxifying power.

Jo Malone London Vitamin E Body Treatment Scrub

I'm a little bath-obsessed. There's just no better way for me to unwind at the end of the day than with a nice, hot bath. So another one of my favorite products accompanying me in the tub is this Vitamin E Scrub by Jo Malone London. Vitamin E is a wonderful antioxidant ingredient and you can use this scrub to get rid of your skin's surface level cells to reveal the younger, healthier looking skin below. Which brings me to another one of my favorite things I've read (I believe in the same book!) - Your skin is your largest organ. So, it's the best way to detoxify and cleanse your body of harmful toxins.

The Body Shop: Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash.Scrub.Mask

This muddy mask and wash is formulated with (organic) tea tree oil to fight blemished skin. The scrub isn't a harsh exfoliant, perfect for your dryer months, but it just strong enough to unclog pores and smooth your skin's surface. Tea tree oil is a great way to naturally fight blemishes without damaging your skin, making it one of my favorite products right now. I use it combined with the Tea Tree Oil. And I think GP would approve of it too!

HUM Runway Ready Packette

In this little pack of vitamins by HUM, you will find 2 Red Carpet vitamins and 1 Killer Nails vitamin. The Runway Ready vitamins are specially formulated with fully-vegetarian, naturally sourced ingredients to leave you with healthier skin, hair and nails.

Beyond these products, she also recommends drinking water with fresh-squeezed lemon every morning, infrared sauna sessions, and clinics to detox. You can find more wellness and detoxing tips on goop.com or in the book, Clean Beauty.
